Yellowcard Steals the Show The Vans Warped Tour has been touring the country for over a month now, visiting the largest cities America has to offer. But on Tuesday, the gave us here in Louisville a chance to check out the famous Warped Tour. The idea behind this mini Warped was to see if Louisville could get the real deal in the next few years. Warped Jr., as it was appropritely named, still featured some great bands and a whole day of exctitment at the Belvedere. In the end, Yellowcard stole the show.

Bands looking for their big break started out the activities. I could tell that some were never goning to get this break. Others put on good shows though many people did not know who they were. I was introduced to many new bands whose music I had not heard before. Silverstein was probably the best band there I saw or heard for the first time.

The first big band to come on was Sugarcult. They put on a good show. They were very good at keeping the crowd into their set and between songs. I especially enjoyed their lastest song, "Memory." Later, Flogging Molly hit the stage. I hadn't heard of them before the concert, but lets jsut say they are an interesting group. They some Irish/punk rock thing going. Very odd. They were followed by Simple Plan who I don't really like. The rest of the crowd didn't seem to either. They seemed to be the only band all day who everyone disliked a lot.

Finally, after hours of patient waiting, Yellowcard took the stage. The whole crowd had come to see them and they did not disappoint. Their high energy act and the upbeat music got the crowd going. It really helps out when you know the lyrics to the bands song and everyone in the crowd seemed to know Yellowcard's lyrics. The crowd was singing along to every song. To no one surprise they finished off their seven song set with Ocean Avenue. I love Yellowcard's sound. It jsut so easy to get into and sing along with. Not to mention, they are the only band I know with an electric viloin thrown into the mix. Their performance alone was worth the price of admission.

Hopefully, Warped will come back next year with an even better line up. Yellowcard by themselves would be even better. Overall the day was a whole lot of fun and the music was awesome. Let's go to Cincy on the 16th. They got 65 bands there.

War Games Remember playing cops and robbers when you were a little kid? No matter how much fun it was, it always seemed to be missing that danger or risk that being a cop or robber takes. Today, I got to experience the closest thing to that feeling you get without doing the real thing. A group of 20 of my freinds headed up to play paintball in Indiana for Julies birthday. The missing piece from games of cops was added in: guns that actually shot bullets. One hit and your out. Now, you must play the game with a strategy and think before you make a move or your 'dead'. Though it doesn't hurt that bad, the sting of a paintball traveling 200-300 feet per second is uncomfortable.

A few of the people had played before, but for the most of us it was the first time. We all got guns, bullets, and masks and headed out to play or first game. We divided our self in two even teams and entered the "Cowboys VS Indians" field. I was a cowboy and we manned the fort. The indians started out at the other end and ad only stacks of tires for cover. Nobody knew what they were doing this game and it was just used to get to know how to play. My team did win though.

The next game was played in a field filled with inflatble objects that provided cover. I staked myself out behind one of them for most of the game, but even thouhg I hit someone the balls didn't pop. Finally, I decided to move to a new spot and was pegged with a paintball in the upper chest. I was out. My team eventually lost. In the third game I advanced far into the enemy territory and took out one of the best players. My team won this one too.

Out of the 7 games we played, I was only eliminated three times. Once I was hit right on my trigger finger. Once you get out on the field, your adrenaline starts pumping and you really get into the game. It feels as if you are part of a war. Paintballs are buzzing past both sides of you, but you still must get up and aim to take an enemy out. Its what the game is all about. If you get hit, you are surpised and say ouch even though it doesn't really hurt. I guess its just a reaction. Some people got a ffew bruises, but overall we had a really good time. If your every have a group of friends who don't know what to do. Head up to Lanesville,Indiana and enjoy an exciting game of war.

Now I Know What It's Like! Yesterday, I watched the fifth installment of The Amazing Race on CBS. I watched it becasue I love adventure reality shows such as Survivor and The Amazing Race, but I also had another reason to watch it this time. I got to experience something very similar a few weeks ago on my trip to Greece and Egypt and now know how it feels to be mentally and physically exhausted on a trip. I am sure I was nowhere close to as tired as they will eventually be, but atleast I have some sort of sense of what they are going through.

Going on the show would have its pros and cons, but I think it would be worth it. It would be an amazing experience that would take me around the world while testing my wits, durability, and countless other atributes. The $1,000,000 grand prize isn't too shabby either. For now, I'll watch and enjoy being able to relax on my couch as they race across the world.

I also saw a place on the show that I had never heard of before but would love to visit. There is a statue on a beach in Uruguay of a hand. All you can see of the hand is the tops of fingers and it represents the last thing you see of a person before the drown. Pretty cool, huh?

Not Much :: Just for Fun This isn't a very important post, just something cool I found surfing the web. It's hard to find interesting things to do online, so when you do its pretty excting. I was looking at this webcomic when I found this interesting picture at the top. I thought it was pretty funny, and mostly true, so I thought I would share it with you all.

The penguin that can be found in the comic is just an added bonus.

Thats all.

Wanna Go to a Bangin' Party, yo? Tomorrow, America celebrates yet another birthday. Even though 200+ years may seem like a long time, it's not when your talking about the age of a country. After you realize how young the US is, its hard to grasp how much we have accomplished in that short span of time. Our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence and we haven't looked back, leaving the rest of the world in the dust. Yes, sometimes we believe we can use our power however and whenever we like, but most of the time we do it for the good of everyone involved. That is what the 4th of July is all about. It is a time for us to set aside our differences and celebrate the good things about America. After returning from a trip across the Atlantic, I couldn't be prouder to be American. In my eyes it is easily the best place on the face of the earth. Tomorrow I get to enjoy the best of what it has to offer. Good people, good food, lots of fun, and fireworks to cap it all off.

Don't let the happenings in the Middle East stop you from celebrating the fact that you live in the best country the world has to offer. Put out your flag, cover yourself with all the red, white, and blue clothes you have, and shoot of all the fireworks you please, even though some are illegal. Celebrate it because you can. Do it for those in countries like Iraq who cannot. Its our right and our privilege to celebrate our freedom.

Tomorrow is a day when I can honestly say I like to hear Aaron Tippins overly patriotic song, "Where the Stars and Stripes, and Eagle Fly" He sums up the way you should feel tomorrow pretty well. "Yeah, I've seen enough to know that we've got it good.." True. Tomorrow is the day we should definently be thankful for our good fortune.

"No, it ain't (yes, he said ain't. God Bless 'im.) the only place on earth But it's the only place that I prefer.." You can say that again. There is no other place on this earth i would like to settle down and live. I want to travel the globe, but I only want to live here.

"I pledge allegiance to this flag And if that bothers you, well that's too bad.." The 4th of July is the one day I can truly say this and not care what anyone thinks. It's our day, it's our country's flag, and if someone has a problem with that, well...thats too bad. I can't help that I was born and live here. I'm thankful for it, but I'm not gonna hold back becasue you don't like my country. Get over it. Make peace not war.

But now to the question that is that title of this blog. Do you? Well come to my place at 2 o'clock tomorrow. You already missed one bangin' party today, not to mention my fireworks spectacular. Make sure you don't miss the next party. Be there or be square.
